MTNL which stands for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has slashed its prices for new broadband plans. The usual prices were too much high as compared to the plans now. At one stage 256Kbps plan (Unlimited Bandwidth) was priced at Rs999 per month which was then slashed to Rs750 per month and now MTNL has gone further and is providing 512Kbps speeds at Rs599 per month.
Earlier 1Mbps plan was not available at unlimited speeds which now is at a very convenient price of Rs999 per month. It looks as if MTNL is going in for cut throat competition against other Broadband Providers in Mumbai who provide the same amount of plans at approximately same price. I am waiting to see whether this happens in Airtel Broadband as well because they provide good quality broadband at a reasonable rate as well, but their prices are Rs1099 for 512Kbps plan and Rs1699 for 1Mbps Plan.
